HOMAYRA AHMED
President and Founder
Hi Everyone! I am a 3rd year nursing student studying at Mac. I have always been passionate about congenital heart particularly because I have dextrocardia with situs inversus. I was amazed at how little awareness there is on my condition and as a result I created the club McMaster Hope for Hearts. Hopefully this helps someone else out there, maybe at Mcaster or the general public struggling with feeling alone.

HUMAIRA NIAZI
Vice President
Hello everyone!
I am a 4th year Honours Life Science student. Congenital heart issues severely affect many individuals and families globally. I joined McMaster Hope for Hearts to increase awareness on these disorders as well as help individuals suffering by providing a safe outlet to express themselves. I'm excited for this year to make a difference for individuals with heart conditions.
AREEJ ALI
VP of Finance
Hi everyone! I'm a 3rd year Commerce student. I joined this club as I firmly believe in the cause and would like to raise awareness and work to raise funds for children born with congenital heart defects. I have always had a passion for children and enjoy volunteering knowing I will be helping someone live a better life. I'm currently a weekend volunteer teacher for Grade 1 and have working in this capacity for 3 years. When I heard about this club, I found that it would be the perfect opportunity for me in order to lend my experience and do what I can. I encourage every one to take a moment and learn about congenital heart defects in order to contribute in time and/or money to help support our cause!
HIRA IRFAN
Director of Communications
Hello everyone! My program is Honours Life Science. Congenital heart disease is the world's leading birth defect, and affects thousands of people in Canada alone. Despite this, there are fewer resources and support systems in place for people affected by CHD, and many people are unaware of it. Hope for Hearts aims to increase the awareness and support for CHD, which is something I'm passionate about and am so grateful to be a part of! Graphic design, lettering, painting - anything creative! In my free time I like to do graphic design, lettering, painting - anything creative!
MALAIKA JANJUA
VP of Events
Hope for Hearts is a club that hits a spot close to my heart. There are so many children and adults out there with congenital heart defects, and there is not much research on these illnesses. As a fellow McMaster citizen, aspiring nurse, I believe it is our job to bring a hope to these people. Being close to a friend with a congenital heart defect, and for almost a decade being involved with fundraising for Heart & Stroke Foundation, this club really allows me to expand my horizons and impact more people out there. By being with this club, not only can we raise money for the cause, but also impact lives by creating awareness. This upcoming year, my initiative will be to at least have changed the perspective on this topic in my surroundings and truly as a team do our best to fundraise
TAMNEET TIWANA
VP of Communications (Social)
Hi everyone! I am a third year nursing student at McMaster University. McMaster Hope for Hearts focuses on raising awareness about congenital issues babies face during their fetal development and its effect on their physical development throughout their lifespan. I am glad I am given the opportunity to be a part of the executive team as it gives me the chance to communicate with the community and raise awareness about congenital heart defects.
YESENIA RODRIGUEZ
