EVENTS TEAM 2019-2020
Malaika Janjua

VP of Events
Hope for Hearts is a club that hits a spot close to my heart. There are so many children and adults out there with congenital heart defects, and there is not much research on these illnesses. As a fellow McMaster citizen, aspiring nurse, I believe it is our job to bring a hope to these people. Being close to a friend with a congenital heart defect, and for almost a decade being involved with fundraising for Heart & Stroke Foundation, this club really allows me to expand my horizons and impact more people out there. By being with this club, not only can we raise money for the cause, but also impact lives by creating awareness. This upcoming year, my initiative will be to at least have changed the perspective on this topic in my surroundings and truly as a team do our best to fundraise.

Events Operation Manager
Hello everyone! I am in third year Honours Life Sciences. Congenital heart defects is an issue that I'm very passionate about. I joined Hope for Hearts because I knew that this would improve the quality of life of those with these defects and help put a smile on their face. I love to bake, play squash, and go on nature hikes.

Events Coordinator
Hello! I'm Ian Chan, a 3rd year Life Science student. Did you know it is one of the most common birth defects in North America? If not, I'm here to help change that! I joined hope for hearts in order to contribute to my local community and help spread awareness for congenital heart diseases. In joining, I wanted to put to use my experience and to help deliver fun and informative experience for everyone involved! I enjoy volunteering everywhere! In my spare time I like to play tennis, go swimming and running. I find video games and superhero movies also a lot of fun! Feel free to chat with me during certain times about congenital heart diseases over bubble tea!

Events Coordinator
My name is Zoia Qureshi and I am in my 3rd year of Honours Anthropology & Political Science. I enjoy baking and volunteering during my free time. I joined McMaster Hope for Hearts because I usually see children with congenital heart defects and that's when i feel like there is not enough research and awareness. This organization will help me spread awareness on heart defects.
