During my journey with determining what is going on with my heart I discovered a bunch of places you can go to ensure you get the proper care you deserve and need in a timely fashion. The most helpful place for me in my four year journey was the Cardiac Ambulatory Care center in the General cardiology clinic in Hamilton General Hospital. My family doctor and another physician seeing me at my university both had no idea about the place. It was through working at my School of Nursing Job that a faculty member told me about this place.
This place can see urgent, semi urgent and elective referrals for heart conditions such as palpitations, chest pain, dizziness, arrhythmias. They have access to many cardiologists as well as a congenital heart specialist (cool right!). The best part about this place is you can get a referral within 72 hours if you go to your family MD and ask for a urgent referral to this place.
I found this place the one stop for all my heart related needs as the cardiologist booked me for labs, tests, and other diagnostic things all in the same hospital and referred me to other specialists if needed. I did not have to go scrambling from one community cardiology clinic to another asking for a stress test or a holter since this place does everything without having to wait 2 months or 4 years!
